What personal impact do you make when you walk into a room?

What impression do you think you make with your body language, facial expressions, the tone of your voice? Even your energy level and what you chose to wear this morning have an influence on how people perceive you especially if they have never met you before. How do you want people to see you, are you portraying the real, best most authentic you?

What is this intangible quality personal impact anyway?

When we think of someone making a personal impact we think about them leaving behind a strong impression, getting attention, challenging or provoking, inspiring or motivating.

Exceptional personal impact in business requires professionals to have strong emotional intelligence and adapt themselves to do and say the right thing at the right time, in multiple environments, with multiple stakeholders. Authentically. This is easy to say but not always easy to do. But you still need to understand why your actions impact others and have the skills in place to be able to control how you can influence that.

Impact helps you build relationships

Building relationships at work can be tricky, but making relationships work effectively in the workplace is really important. It fuels many things from better business to social enjoyment in and out of the office.

Creating good relationships at work helps you get support and respect for our work as well as building trust and engagement at all levels. And your personal impact can have a big influence on this.

Communicate more effectively

Good communication skills are without question a vital factor when considering your impact. We all have different strengths and weaknesses when it comes to being effective communicators. Some of us are naturally outspoken others more reserved and less assertive. One may easily be seen as too aggressive and the other too passive and not taken seriously. We all have to play to our strengths when improving our personal impact, being seen as both authentic and achieving effective results.
